The Chattooga County Literacy Council

A Georgia Certified Literate Community Participant

The Chattooga County Literacy Council's mission is "to foster literacy in Chattooga County by promoting education for adults in basic skills, reading, English as a second language, and GED preparation, and aiding other organizations and individuals in their efforts to promote literacy." The Literacy Council supports the local GED preparation services, pays GED testing fees for county residents who qualify, and promotes early childhood literacy through our dictionary program and by supporting the Summer Reading Program at the library and the Ferst Foundation program to supply age-appropriate books to children aged birth to five years. We also encourage teens to stay in school thorough programs for high school students, and more.
